When Life Imitates Webcomics…

Posted on October 8th, 2008 at 23:15 by shea | No Comments »

When life imitates webcomics, we are all doomed.  And lo, the first harbinger of your animated apocalypse.  Not too long ago, an xkcd comic proposed a fictional virus which read comments on You Tube aloud before they are posted.  Today, You Tube unveiled a spiffy new feature, audio preview on comments.  Bow before the power of xkcd.

McCain Aspires to Dictatorship, Admittedly!

Posted on October 1st, 2008 at 20:53 by shea | No Comments »

Check this video, part of a whopper of a full interview McCain just dropped at the Des Moines Register.  Listen to how he’d write up the bailout if he were dicator or, in his own words:

“I’m not saying this is the perfect answer. If I were dictator, which I always aspire to be, I would write it a little bit differently. I would increase the FDIC insured deposits and done some other things..”

I don’t know what’s scarier, that he drops that nugget without a care or that there’s still people that support this guy.

Led Zeppelin is Back?

Led Zeppelin

Word is, the long rumored, long thought to be impossible, Led Zeppelin reunion tour is on.  Hold out Robert Plant reportedly agreed to join his former bandmates and the son of late Zeppelin drummer John Bonham on an arena tour in 2009.

UPDATE: Or maybe not…  Robert Plant’s website now claims that after his current tour with Allison Krauss, the Zep singer will be too fatigued to embark on another tour for at least 2 more years.  Thanks for crushing our dreams Mr. Plant.

PETA

Ah, PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.  Longtime dwot’ers might recall the numerous articles of evidence that PETA is full of people who are a little disassociated with reality.  Here’s a new entry into the annals of PETA’s insanity.  PETA has sent a letter to Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream urging them to replace cow’s milk with human breast milk.  Need I say more?  Welcome back PETA, you nutjobs.  It’s been a while.

PAX08 Recap

Left 4 DeadGears of War 2

With the weekend now gone, it’s time to recap what we saw at PAX08.

PAX was, in short, fucking amazing.  Ken Levine of BioShock fame lead things off with a tremendous Key Note, audio available at Joystiq on what it was that all brought us to Seattle.  As Ken put it, we’re all just a bunch of fucking nerds.  PAX is a nerd mecca, with panels, concerts and guests tailored to the nerdish pallette.
