Gene Expression: Young, agnostic, moderately liberal & smart support free speech
Here’s an interesting breakdown of responses to free speech questions from various demographics. The results are relatively unsurprising of course, if you’re an old, deist conservative with a small vocabulary, you probably don’t think anyone has a right to oppose your viewpoint. Shocking!

Quake Live Beta
Quake Live, the free-to-play, web-based shooter, developed by FPS legends id, has been released into Open Beta. Now, I’d hit you with some impressions, but I’m currently 11017 deep in the queue. I guess that means there’s some sort of a market for this sort of thing. I’ve previously played Battlefield Heroes, EA’s own beta attempt at the web-based shooter and was left unimpressed. However, id certainly has the chops to pull it off. id’s prolific resume include FPS-defining franchises like Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake.
Speaking of FPS’s, Team Fortress 2, the long-awaited sequel to the original Quake and Half-Life mod is only $10 on Steam this week. If you haven’t played this game, pick it up it’s well worth it, you’d be hard pressed to find a better multiplayer FPS on PC. And, of course, after you fire it up, hop on the dwot TF2 Server and enjoy some quality FPS action.

The new release adds even more supported formats, an updated UI, album art, improved library functions, and even YouTube support. VLC was already the king of all media players, but appears to have only gotten better. If you’re not using it, you really should check it out.
